NCSA Fall Education 4 Webinars (Thursday, September 03, 2026)

Program Number-

Embracing AI for Tax & Accounting Pros

1 Hour CE Federal Tax Webinar

Rebecca Driscoll

September 3, 2026, Noon-1 p.m.

Program Description

Artificial intelligence is rapidly reshaping how tax and accounting professionals research, prepare, review, and advise. This program gives practitioners a practical, vendor-neutral foundation for understanding and responsibly adopting AI tools in a tax and accounting practice. Participants will explore what generative AI and machine learning are, how these technologies work at a conceptual level, and where they add measurable value across the engagement lifecycle — from client intake and document handling to tax research, workpaper preparation, and client communication.

Through guided examples and real-world scenarios drawn from everyday practice, instructors Rebecca Driscoll and Charlie Barmore of The AI Lab for Accountants demonstrate how professionals can use AI to streamline routine workflows, improve accuracy, and free up time for higher-value advisory work. Equal attention is given to the risks and professional responsibilities that accompany these tools, including data privacy and client confidentiality, accuracy and verification of AI-generated output, bias and reliability limitations, and the ethical and due-diligence standards that continue to govern the practitioner regardless of the technology used. By the end of the session, participants will be equipped to evaluate AI tools critically and integrate them into their practice in a manner consistent with professional standards.

Learning Objectives

Upon completion of this program, participants will be able to:

Describe the core concepts behind generative AI and machine learning as they apply to tax and accounting work.

Identify practical, high-value use cases for AI across the tax and accounting engagement lifecycle.

Recognize the limitations and risks of AI tools, including accuracy, confidentiality, data security, and bias concerns.

Apply appropriate verification and review procedures to AI-generated work product.

Evaluate AI tools against relevant professional responsibility and due-diligence obligations.

Program Number-

Trump Accounts What Now Federal Tax Update

1 Hour CE Federal Tax Webinar

Speaker: TBA

September 10, 2026, Noon-1 p.m.

Program Description

The One Big Beautiful Bill Act created a new category of tax-advantaged account for children — commonly known as a Trump Account — and the IRS has introduced Form 4547, Trump Account Election(s), as the mechanism for opening an initial account and electing the one-time federal pilot contribution. This program gives tax and accounting professionals a working command of these new rules so they can advise clients accurately during the 2026 filing season and beyond.

Participants will learn what a Trump Account is and how it functions as a form of traditional individual retirement account established for the exclusive benefit of an eligible child. The program walks through eligibility requirements, the $1,000 government pilot contribution for qualifying children, annual contribution limits and sources, the tax treatment of contributions and distributions, and the priority order of authorized individuals who may open an account. Substantial attention is devoted to the mechanics of Form 4547 itself — who files it, how it is filed with or apart from the individual return, common filing errors to avoid, and how clients can view and submit elections through their IRS individual online account.

Through practical examples, the instructors show how to counsel families on whether and when to open an account, how these accounts interact with existing savings and retirement planning, and the documentation practitioners should maintain. The program is current as of the December 2025 revision of Form 4547 and the related Treasury and IRS guidance.

Learning Objectives

Upon completion of this program, participants will be able to:

Explain what a Trump Account is and how it is characterized for federal tax purposes.

Determine which children are eligible and identify the authorized individuals who may open an account, in their order of priority.

Apply the rules for the $1,000 federal pilot contribution, annual contribution limits, and employer contributions.

Describe the tax treatment of contributions during the growth period and the applicable distribution rules.

Complete and file Form 4547 correctly, including the interaction with the individual income tax return and common filing pitfalls to avoid.

Advise clients on planning considerations for establishing and funding a Trump Account.

Intro to Lien Releases Federal Tax Matters

1 Hour CE Federal Tax Webinar

Speaker: Ayisha Hayes, EA

September 17, 2026, Noon-1 p.m.

Program Description

A federal tax lien can attach to a client's property and disrupt their ability to sell, refinance, or borrow. This introductory program gives tax professionals a clear, practical foundation in how federal tax liens arise and, more importantly, how they are released, discharged, subordinated, or withdrawn. Participants will gain the working knowledge needed to help clients navigate the resolution process with confidence.

The program begins with the fundamentals: how the statutory federal tax lien is created, the role of the Notice of Federal Tax Lien in establishing priority against other creditors, and how a lien differs from a levy. From there, instructor Ayisha Hayes, EA, walks through the mechanics of a lien release — including when the IRS is required to release a lien, the timing of automatic releases upon full satisfaction or expiration of the collection period, and how to request expedited action when a release is delayed or a client needs relief quickly.

Participants will also learn to distinguish a release from the related remedies of discharge of specific property, subordination, and withdrawal of the Notice of Federal Tax Lien, and will review the forms and documentation used to request each. Practical examples illustrate common client scenarios, such as clearing a lien to close a property sale, and the program emphasizes practitioner best practices for verifying that a release has properly posted with the relevant recording offices.

Learning Objectives

Upon completion of this program, participants will be able to:

Explain how a federal tax lien arises and the function of the Notice of Federal Tax Lien.

Distinguish a federal tax lien from a levy and describe how lien priority is determined.

Identify the circumstances under which the IRS releases a federal tax lien, including automatic release upon full payment or expiration of the collection statute.

Describe the process and documentation for requesting a lien release, including expedited requests.

Differentiate a release from discharge, subordination, and withdrawal, and recognize when each remedy applies.

Advise clients on verifying that a lien release has been properly recorded.

Program Number-A8FPT-T-00108-25-O

Program Description

Long-term contracts create unique tax accounting and reporting challenges for contractors and their tax professionals. This introductory webinar examines the fundamental requirements of Internal Revenue Code Section 460 and the tax accounting methods used to report income and expenses from qualifying long-term contracts.

Participants will learn how to identify a long-term contract, determine when the percentage-of-completion method is required, and recognize contracts that may qualify for an exception. The program will also cover contract cost allocation, estimating total contract costs, calculating the percentage of completion, and recognizing income during the life of a contract. Practical examples will demonstrate how Section 460 affects taxable income and tax return preparation. The webinar will also introduce the look-back method and common compliance issues encountered when working with contractor clients.

Learning Objectives

Define a long-term contract under Internal Revenue Code Section 460.

Identify construction and manufacturing contracts that may be subject to Section 460.

Determine when the percentage-of-completion method is generally required.

Recognize contracts that may qualify for the home construction or small-contractor exceptions.

Distinguish between the percentage-of-completion method and the completed-contract method.

Explain how direct and indirect costs are allocated to long-term contracts.

Calculate the percentage of contract completion using the cost-to-cost method.

Explain how changes in estimated contract costs affect the recognition of taxable income.

Recognize the basic purpose of the look-back method for completed long-term contracts.

September 24, 2026, Noon-1 p.m.

Upon completion of this webinar, participants will be able to:

Define a long-term contract under Internal Revenue Code Section 460.

Upon completion of this webinar, participants will be able to:

Define a long-term contract under Internal Revenue Code Section 460.
