In 1970, the North Carolina Society of Accountants, Inc. established a tax-exempt Scholarship Foundation as a vehicle to provide scholarships for deserving students who have indicated a desire to enter the profession of Accounting.
Of the numerous scholarships awarded by the Foundation each year, three are named scholarships:
The Annette Boutwell Scholarship – Annette was the Executive Secretary for the North Carolina Society of Accountants for more than twenty-five years until she retired in 1992. After retirement she agreed to work for and with the NCSA Scholarship Foundation for another ten years. In 2002, a scholarship award was named in memory of her and her belief in the importance of higher education.
The Steven Pace Scholarship – Steve was the President of the North Carolina Society of Accountants in 2002-2003, and he served the Society in many other capacities on the state and chapter levels. When Steve was an officer in the Piedmont Chapter, he spearheaded several scholarship fundraising events. He always brought fun and excitement with lively bingo games and raffles.
